Emerging Leaders Leadership Development Course

Team Learning to Lead for the First Time

Being given a leadership role is exciting — especially when it means stepping into a wider leadership team — but it can also feel overwhelming if you’ve never had the chance to truly experience what leadership means.

This course is designed for emerging leaders, who are stepping into leadership roles for the first time. You’ll begin by exploring yourself as a leader — discovering your strengths, values, and leadership style. From there, you’ll learn how to contribute effectively within a leadership team, building trust, communication, and shared purpose. Through experiential learning, you’ll develop the confidence and capability to lead with authenticity, alignment, and impact.

Horses don’t judge your position, popularity, or posts. They respond only to who you are in the moment — your presence, your clarity, and your ability to build trust.

What You’ll Experience

Discover Your Presence: Learn how the way you stand, move, and communicate affects how others respond to you.

Understand Teamwork: Experience what it feels like to lead, follow, and support others in a group setting.

Learn Through Doing: Instead of sitting in a classroom, you’ll be out of your comfort zone, working alongside horses in real, hands-on activities.

Immediate Feedback: Horses show you instantly if your message is clear, if your energy is aligned, and if your team is working together.

Course Outcomes

Confidence: Build belief in your ability to step up and lead others.

Clarity: Learn how to communicate direction in a way that people can follow.

Format & Structure

2 hour Workshop: A fun, safe, and interactive program with horses and skilled facilitators.

Ground-Based Learning: No riding — all activities are on the ground and accessible to everyone.

Guided Reflection: After each activity, students reflect on what they learned and how it applies to their leadership role.

Practical Takeaways: Each participant leaves with new skills, personal insights, and strategies they can apply straight away in their school community.

“The experiential leadership development program gave me a visual and practical example of leadership concepts that are usually just explained or imagined. This made it so much easier to understand and apply them in real-life leadership scenarios. The team created such a comfortable environment where we could learn openly, admit to mistakes, share our realisations, and still enjoy the day. Most importantly, it allowed us to really connect as a leadership team – learning how to understand each other’s needs, support one another, and respond in ways that make us stronger together.
